This Judicial District is undergoing some changes at this time, but is currently part of a district with three counties made up of Montgomery, Moore and Randolph counties. The County seat of Montgomery is in Troy. The Courthouse is located at the intersection of East and South Main streets. Montgomery County has been described as a miniature North Carolina. It is bordered on the North and West by Badin Lake, and Lake Tillery where tens of thousands of people come each year for recreation. Northern parts of the county are where you will find the Uwharrie Mountains, said to be one of the oldest mountain ranges in the world. The Uwharrie National Forrest is located here also with its vast array of camping, fishing, and hiking facilities. The eastern side of the county has the first hints of the Sandhills section of North Carolina where peaches formery reigned supreme. Many farmers still make their living with the peach industry. From the east side of the county, one is about 20 miles from Pinehurst, in Moore County, where some of the finest golf courses in the world are located.
